What Happens If It Rains on Your Drone Show?

Rain in the forecast? It does not automatically mean canceling your drone show. Our drones are designed to resist rain—but whether your guests want to stand outside in it is another question.

How do we keep rain out?

A rubber gasket seals the joint between the canopy and diffuser, creating a watertight enclosure when correctly assembled.

GORE vents allow air to move in and out as the drone heats and cools, balancing internal pressure while blocking rain and dust. Gore explains how its protective vents work.

What about the motors?

Brushless motors can be designed to operate in wet conditions—even underwater. However, being brushless does not automatically make every motor waterproof; protection depends on its construction.

For example, Blue Robotics explains how its brushless motors use protective coatings and water-compatible components to operate underwater.

Can the show go ahead?

Our drones can fly in rain within their operating limits. The team still assesses the full conditions before deciding whether to proceed.

Rain resistance does not mean every weather forecast is suitable for a show.

Will your guests enjoy it?

Even when the drones can fly, consider the audience. Is there a sheltered viewing area? Will umbrellas obstruct the view? Would a change in timing make the experience more comfortable?

Discuss weather arrangements, decision timing, and rescheduling or cancellation terms before booking.

Talk to Starbound Labs about your event, and we’ll help you plan for the weather as well as the show.
